We have the opportunity to elect former GiveGreen Climate Champions in the open Governor seats in Virginia and New Jersey. These races will also serve as a referendum on President Trump and his harmful policies. Additionally, retaining a pro-environment majority in the Virginia House of Delegates will be a major priority. Virginia will also elect a new Lieutenant Governor, while the anti-environment Attorney General will also be up for re-election.
2025-2026
At a time when democracy is under dangerous and consistent attacks from the Trump Administration, now is when we need your help to support leaders who will do everything they can to stand up to protect our sacred right to vote. We will work to elect pro-democracy State Supreme Court Justices and Secretaries of State who will ensure voting rights, protect the ballot box, and uphold election integrity. Wisconsin state Supreme Court race is now one of the most consequential elections in 2025, with GiveGreen candidate Susan Crawford raising money from GiveGreen donors across the country.
2026
Governors play a critical role in passing and implementing bold, just climate solutions. The 2026 Election will include a number of states that will be competitive where GiveGreen will be active. The map below represents states where there are particularly important races the GiveGreen team is monitoring. Due to a combination of factors, not every state listed in the Governor map will be a place where GiveGreen will ultimately be involved.
Choosing Governors, state executives and down-ballot candidates who will champion climate policy has never been a higher priority. These leaders will play a role in the implementation and protection of the Inflation Reduction Act, passing historic climate legislation at the state and local levels, and making sure gains in the states that were made in the last few years are not turned back.
