Candidate Background

Sue Altman is running to represent New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. She grew up in the district and was a star basketball player both in high school and at Columbia University. She then played professionally in Europe before earning two graduate degrees from Oxford University — one in international education policy and the other in business. As a high school history teacher, Sue became deeply involved in the fight to fully fund our public schools and afford every child a chance to thrive. Most recently, Sue worked as an anti-corruption advocate in Trenton, fighting the waste of tax-payer money and organizing for environmental justice with the Green New Deal Network. She is committed to protecting New Jersey’s rural communities and natural environment from short-sighted, environmentally unsustainable overdevelopment and warehouse sprawl.
