CANDIDATE BACKGROUND
Representative Rosa DeLauro is running for an 18th term to represent Connecticut’s 3rd congressional district. Throughout her time in Congress, especially in her role as the top Democrat on the Appropriations Committee, she has been a champion for the environment. She sponsored the Taxpayer and Gas Price Relief Act to end subsidies and tax credits for Big Oil and introduced a bill that would provide financing for critical clean energy projects. She has also worked to protect Long Island Sound and called for the need to act on climate change. DeLauro is also a long standing supporter of protecting Connecticut's public spaces and waterways and co-lead efforts to reauthorize the Long Island Sound Restoration and Stewardship Act. DeLauro previously served as Chief of Staff to U.S. Senator Chris Dodd and as the Executive Director of EMILY’s List. In Congress, DeLauro will continue to be an environmental ally and advocate for clean energy. Representative DeLauro has earned a 100% score on LCV’s 2023 National Environmental Scorecard.
