CANDIDATE BACKGROUND

Representative Mike Quigley is running for an eighth term to represent Illinois’s 5th Congressional District. Quigley previously served as a Cook County Commissioner. A member of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition and Safe Climate Caucus, Quigley has been outspoken on the need to address climate change and protect clean water. He has led efforts to protect the Great Lakes and safe drinking water, bring resources to the issue of urban flooding, support stronger smog standards, and promote the Illinois Clean Jobs Bill. In the wake of the Flint water crisis, Quigley co-introduced legislation to address contaminated drinking water nationwide. In Congress, Quigley will continue advocating for taking action on climate change, transitioning to a clean energy economy, and protecting our water. Representative Quigley has earned a 98% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
