CANDIDATE BACKGROUND
Martin Heinrich is running for a fourth term to represent New Mexico in the U.S. Senate. Heinrich previously served in the U.S. House. Heinrich has been a champion for clean energy and conservation in New Mexico, sponsoring legislation to modernize our energy infrastructure and reduce carbon pollution. Senator Heinrich helped pass the historic Inflation Reduction Act, which will make more than $87 million available to the State of New Mexico and Tribes in the state for consumer home energy rebate programs, enabling communities to make homes more energy efficient, upgrade electric appliances, and cut energy costs.
He has been outspoken in his defense of the Clean Air Act and the EPA’s authority to combat climate change. In the Senate, he will continue to lead on public lands conservation issues in New Mexico. Senator Heinrich has earned a 94% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
