CANDIDATE BACKGROUND
Representative Marc Veasey is running for a seventh term to represent Texas’s 33rd Congressional District. Veasey previously served in the state House. In the legislature and now in Congress, he has been a strong proponent of environmental justice, combating harmful environmental practices by the drilling industry in low-income communities in his district.
A former member of the House Space, Science and Technology Subcommittee on Energy, he has supported the EPA’s Clean Power Plan and advocated for expanding access to clean energy for low-income households. In Congress, Veasey will continue to be a strong voice for clean air and environmental justice. Veasy also supported the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which will invest $403 million dollars for the Trinity River Vision/Central City flood control project by increasing climate resilience and making long-overdue improvements at ports and waterways. Representative Veasey has earned a 92% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
