Candidate Background
Representative Lloyd Doggett is running for a 17th term in the U.S. House of Representatives to represent Texas's 37th congressional district. A former Texas State Senator and Texas Supreme Court Justice, he has been a longtime champion for the environment and Texas's public lands. A member of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition and Safe Climate Caucus, Doggett has been a strong supporter of clean energy and making Texas a leading state for solar and wind energy, accelerating the transition to clean, electric transportation and opposing subsidies for Big Oil. He has been a key voice against drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and played a leading role in expanding protections for San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. Representative Doggett has earned an outstanding 97% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
