CANDIDATE BACKGROUND
Lisa Blunt Rochester is running to represent Delaware in the U.S. Senate. She currently represents the state in the U.S. House and previously served as the state’s first African American woman Secretary of Labor and as the CEO of the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League, a public policy think-tank. Representative Blunt Rochester has been a vocal advocate for addressing the threat of climate change and rising sea levels. She is committed to strengthening the state’s infrastructure in order to prepare for the impacts of climate change. In 2023 as a member of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee of Health, she co-sponsored the Technology Assessment for Air Quality Management Act, which would authorize $55 million over five years for the EPA to expand technology for monitoring air quality and protect environmental justice communities. In the Senate, Blunt Rochester will continue advocating for a clean energy economy in Delaware as the state transitions from manufacturing and chemicals. Representative Blunt Rochester has earned a 97% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
