CANDIDATE BACKGROUND
Representative Kathy Castor is running for a 10th term to represent Florida’s 14th congressional district. A win in this race will protect a critical House ally and climate champion. Castor previously served as the chair of the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis. A County Commissioner and chair of the Hillsborough County Environmental Protection Commission, she has fought against barriers to stifle solar development in Florida. Castor has also worked hard to hold BP accountable for the Gulf Oil spill and ensure that they pay for restoration costs. In Congress and as a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Castor will continue to be a strong advocate for addressing climate change and developing clean energy. Representative Castor has earned a 95% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
