CANDIDATE BACKGROUND

Representative John Mannion is running for a second term to represent New York’s 22nd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Before serving as a State Senator, John spent three decades as a public-school science teacher. John Mannion has proven his commitment to the environment during his time as a New York State Senator. Mannion worked closely with New York LCV and voted for many of their legislative priorities including the Clean Fuel Standard bill that seeks to reduce the carbon footprint of the on-road transportation sector, and the EV Charging on Public Lots bill which would require all New York State owned or operated parking garages, open parking lots and other parking facilities to install and maintain a set amount of charging stations for plug-in electric vehicles (EVs).

He served on the Environmental Conservation Committee where he fought to support programs that will improve flood-management and mitigation efforts, and the transition to a clean transportation future. Mannion supported removing PFAS chemicals from various products. He has also worked on combatting harmful algae blooms and protecting drinking water supplies in Central New York. In Congress, Mannion will support renewable energy production, zero-emission transportation, and pollution reduction.
