Candidate Background
Joe Courtney is running for a 10th term to represent Connecticut’s 2nd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. Courtney previously served in the Connecticut state House and as a public defender. He helped found the Sustainable Environment and Energy Coalition, as well as the Green Schools Caucus. He also has worked to protect important public lands and waters in eastern Connecticut and Plum Island in the Long Island Sound. Representative Courtney has earned a 97% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
