CANDIDATE BACKGROUND
Representative Jerry Nadler is running for a 17th term to represent New York’s 10th Congressional District. Nadler previously served in the state Assembly. Nadler currently serves on the House Committee on the Judiciary , where he has been a leader on urban transportation and clean ports issues. Nadler has been a decades-long advocate for the Cross Harbor Rail Freight Tunnel, which would reduce thousands of tons of climate pollutants. In Congress and as a member of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition, Nadler will continue to be a strong advocate for climate action and environmental justice, leading efforts to ensure that the EPA responds more aggressively to major environmental disasters, such as the BP oil spill. As the former chair of the House Committee on the Judiciary, he led passage efforts of the John Lewis Voting Rights Act through the House. Representative Nadler has a 97% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
