CANDIDATE BACKGROUND

Elizabeth Warren is running for fourth term to represent Massachusetts in the U.S. Senate. She previously served as a Harvard Law School professor and on several financial oversight bodies. She has dedicated her career to protecting consumers and has been a consistent advocate for a clean energy economy.

In the Senate, Warren has been a strong supporter of climate action, including advancing bipartisan legislation calling for the Department of Energy to study and report on the savings of operational energy efficiency programs, calling for the Treasury Department to take aggressive action on climate risks, and for the EPA to put in place stronger protections from PFAS, toxic forever-chemicals.

Warren is proud to be an original cosponsor of Senator Ed Markey and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal resolution, which commits the United States to a ten-year mobilization to achieve domestic net-zero emissions by 2030. Warren also proposed a Blue New Deal to protect our oceans and inland waterways, including expanding offshore wind energy development and ending offshore drilling by banning new leases and phasing out existing drilling. Senator Warren has earned a 95% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
