Senator Bob Menendez is running for his third term representing New Jersey in the U.S. Senator. He has stood up for the environment in New Jersey and across the country since his election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1992. As a member of the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, Menendez sponsored the COAST Act, to permanently ban all offshore drilling from Maine to North Carolina. As an outspoken proponent of ending taxpayer subsidies to big oil companies, he has authored numerous bills to eliminate these handouts, including the Close Big Oil Tax Loopholes Act, which garnered a bipartisan majority of support in the Senate in 2011. Menendez also created the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants program as part of the 2007 energy bill, which helps create jobs while protecting the air we breathe. Senator Menendez has earned an impressive 94% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
