Senator Angus King is running for his second term representing Maine in the U.S. Senate. In both the private sector and as a two-term Governor of Maine, Sen. King has championed renewable energies and conservation initiatives, facilitating the largest increase of protected lands in Maine’s history. Before joining the Senate, he served as a principal with Independence Wind LLC and worked with a variety of other alternative energy companies. As a Senator, King has continued to champion transitioning to a clean energy economy, action to address the climate crisis and protecting public lands. He has co-sponsored legislation to fully fund and reauthorize the Land and Water Conservation Fund, to protect our air, water and public health from dangerous chemicals, and to determine if the York River should be designated as a Wild and Scenic Partnership River. Senator King is a member of the Senate Climate Action Task Force and has earned a strong 95% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
